BT offers both standard ADSL and fibre packages.

• Standard Broadband - BT’s standard broadband gives average download speeds of 10Mb
• Fibre Essential - This gives you average download speeds of 36Mb. Ideal for those who want broadband for browsing the internet, social media, as well as watching videos, using services like Skype or playing games online
• Fibre 1 - This gives you average download speeds of 50Mb. Perfect for streaming videos and music, and for playing games online. It’s also a great choice for families as it means everyone can get online without your connection becoming slow
• Fibre 2 - This gives you average download speeds of 67Mb. It’s perfect for large families or shared houses with lots of web-connected gadgets like phones, tablets, TV boxes and games consoles as its fast enough to support loads of people at once

Full Fibre

If you are in a full fibre area then BT have a choice of packages for you.

• Full Fibre 100 - This gives you average download speeds of 150Mb
• Full Fibre 500 - This gives you average download speeds of 500Mb
• Full Fibre 900 - This gives you average download speeds of 900Mb

BT's Full Fibre coverage is still pretty low with around 15% UK coverage.

When you order BT Broadband you can choose to add Complete WiFi to your package. Complete WiFi is BT’s guarantee to deliver strong WiFi in every room, or you get £100 back.

Complete WiFi uses clever WiFi Discs which act as a booster and work to seamlessly extend your Smart Hub’s signal to every corner of the home, from the basement to the attic.

When you join, BT will send you a new Smart Hub 2 and single WiFi disc to get you started. This covers the majority of homes, but if you still need more they will send up to two extra discs free of charge.

Yes, you can. In fact, broadband without a landline is now the default option with BT Broadband.

You do still have the option to add a landline and call package from £2 per month though:

• Pay as you go calls - Calls to UK landlines and UK mobiles cost 20.9p a minute, day or night
• 700 minutes - Get 700 minutes a month to UK landlines or UK mobiles, day or night
• Unlimited minutes - Unlimited calls to any UK landline or UK mobile, day or night

Bear in mind that switching to a no landline packages means if you have a home phone number, you’ll lose it and be unable to get it back if you change your mind. You will also be unable to make any calls, including calls to 999 or other emergency services. You are reliant on your mobile phone.

It’s also worth mentioning, that like most providers, BT are making the switch over to digital phone lines, instead of the traditional phone lines.

BT Home Hub 5

Customers signing up for BT’s standard ADSL broadband will receive the BT Home Hub 5.

BT Smart Hub

Superfast Fibre customers get the award winning BT Smart Hub. With this router you’ll get a speedy and reliable connection all throughout the home.

BT Smart Hub 2

The more advanced BT Smart Hub 2 is given to those who upgrade their fibre package to include Complete WiFi, or those who sign up for Ultrafast Fibre. You can also buy one on its own for £100 (plus £9.99 delivery).

The TNT Sport isn’t free for BT Broadband customers, but you can watch TNT Sports on the discovery+ app for £20 per month when you join BT Broadband. TNT Sports are on monthly rolling contracts so you can join anytime and cancel anytime. With the discovery+ app you can watch TNT Sport on a computer or mobile device. However, you can’t watch through your TV, you will need the full BT Sport pack for that.

BT Broadband packages offer a choice of different average download speeds. Standard broadband offers average speeds of 10Mb, and fibre packages offer averages of up to 67Mb.

BT have also started to roll out their Ultrafast Fibre packages with average speeds of 150Mb, though availability is quite low at the moment.

BT’s fibre broadband is available almost everywhere in the UK. Around 95% of homes have access to superfast broadband (at least 30Mb) so chances are you’ll be able to get it.

Those looking for ultrafast or FTTP broadband may be a little more restricted. At last count, around 5.81 million UK premises were covered by the Openreach ultrafast network and 2.98 million on full fibre (FTTP) networks.
