Asda mobile's offering is pretty simple. They offer low cost SIM only options that are super flexible. They have no contracts giving you the freedom to flex your usage whenever you need to. You can choose from either their pay as you go option or purchase a monthly bundle, or switch between the two depending on your needs at that time.
Bundles vs Pay as you go
Most providers offer both bundles and pay as you go options, this isn’t anything new.
Bundles contain a certain amount of data, minutes and texts which last for 30 days. After that 30 days, any allowance you don’t use is lost. With pay as you go you add money (credit) to your account and you choose how and when to spend it. You will only be charged for what you actually use. As long as you use some mobile data or make a chargeable call or text once every 180 days, your credit won’t expire.
The difference with Asda mobile is the flexibility to switch back and forth between the two options. When your bundle expires you are under no obligation to purchase another bundle. If you know that the following month your usage will be very low, then you might choose to switch to pay as you go for a while. You can always buy a new bundle at any time using the credit on your account.
You can set your bundle to auto renew, but this can be easily cancelled using the Asda mobile app.
WiFi calling and 4G calling on Asda Mobile
Both WiFi and 4G calling is available on Asda for compatible devices.
WiFi calling allows you to send and receive text messages or phone calls completely through a WiFi connection, rather than relying on a mobile network signal. 4G calling, also known as “Voice over LTE”, allows you to make calls using data. The main benefit of 4G calling is its high-definition audio quality compared to standard network calls. When it’s turned on alongside WiFi calling, your phone will automatically move between Wi-Fi and 4G data to keep the call connected.

Roaming on Asda mobile
Roaming is included on Asda mobile in selected European destinations for those with a bundle (not pay as you go).

Yes, Asda mobile offers unlimited data bundles which also includes unlimited calls and texts. They currently have 3 unlimited bundles with different speed caps. Their Unlimited Value bundle is speed capped at 2 Mbps, Unlimited Speedy is speed capped at 10 Mbps and their Unlimited Superfast bundle is speed capped at 150 Mbps.
Which network does Asda mobile use?
Asda doesn’t have its own mobile network, so it piggybacks onto the Vodafone network. Vodafone has 99% population coverage across the UK.
Can I keep my current phone number if I switch to Asda?
Yes, it is usually possible to keep your number. You will just need to request a PAC code from your existing network. After you’ve received your PAC code, you can transfer your number using your Asda mobile online account.
