All you need to know about Plusnet Mobile
Plusnet is the broadband and mobile provider that promises to ‘do you proud’.
Let's take a look in more detail at what Plusnet Mobile has to offer.
Why choose Plusnet Mobile?
UK based customer service
Plusnet's customer service team is available 365 days of the year, yes - even Christmas Day.
Extra data for broadband customers
If you are a Plusnet Broadband customer, then you get an extra 2Gb of data on every SIM plan.
Bolt-Ons
If you run out of your allowance then a bolt-on will allow you to top up until your plan refreshes. You can choose from extra data, minutes or texts depending on what you need. However they only last until your next billing date and can't be rolled over, so make sure you don't buy more than you are realistically going to need to avoid wasting it.
Tethering
You are free to tether with Plusnet (assuming your device supports this). Tethering is turning your phone into a personal hotspot so that you can use your mobile data allowance to get online with other devices like a laptop or tablet.
This can really chew through your data though so make sure to keep your eye on your allowance.
Coverage
Plusnet Mobile is an MVNO which operates on the EE network so the coverage is excellent. The EE network is the most widely available in the UK reaching over 99% of the population.
Smart Cap
Plusnet's Smart Cap allows you to set a limit on how much you're happy to spend on out of plan charges such as premium rate calls, or data once your allowance has been used. The limit can be from £0.00 up to £30, so you won't get any nasty surprises on your bill.
Roaming with Plusnet Mobile
With Plusnet Mobile you can Roam Like Home in over 40 EU destinations, including; France, Spain, Italy and Germany.
Once you have used all of your plan allowance, you will be charged for any additional usage outside of your plan like you would be whilst in the UK, unless you take out a bolt-on.
What's bad about Plusnet Mobile?
Not many perks
Plusnet aims to be simple and affordable, so you won't find much in the way of extras like WiFi Hotspots or free event tickets.
No unlimited data
The biggest data plan is 10Gb. If you are a heavy data user who needs more than this then you might struggle with Plusnet's lower allowances. You can of course use bolt-ons if needed, but this isn't be ideal if you have to relay on them to meet your requirements every month.
No handsets
Plusnet doesn't do handsets, so if you have your heart set on the latest phone then you will need to buy this separately.
No data rollover
Unlike a lot of providers, Plusnet don't roll over any unused data.
