Sky Broadband deals
Virgin Media is the only major provider that offers broadband without a landline. Other ISPs use the BT Openreach network to provide services and that requires an active telephone line. Learn more about why you (probably) need a phone line to get broadband

Can't find the right deal? 😕 Let us help! 🤓

With literally thousands of different packages, speeds and other various options available across all the broadband, TV & phone providers it's nigh on impossible to list them all.

We'd love to help you find the perfect deal though! Please email us at [email protected] (or message us on Facebook if you'd prefer) with a brief description of what you're looking for and we'll get right back to you! ❤️

All you need to know about Sky Broadband

Sky began offering their home broadband service in 2005 and are one of the largest broadband providers in the UK, leading the way with high-quality service and innovation.

Let's take a look in more detail at what Sky Broadband has to offer.

What packages do Sky Broadband offer?

Sky Broadband has a choice of packages to choose from, all with totally unlimited downloads on a 24 month contract.

  • Sky Superfast 35 - average download speeds of 36Mb
  • Sky Superfast - average download speeds of 61Mb
  • Sky Full Fibre 100 - - average download speeds of 100Mb
  • Sky Ultrafast - average download speeds of 145Mb
  • Sky Ultrafast Plus - average download speeds of 500Mb
  • Sky Gigafast - average download speeds of 900Mb

Sky Essential is only available to those who don’t yet have fibre broadband in their area. If fibre is in your area then you won’t see this option.

Sky Ultrafast, Ultrafast Plus and Gigafast all use Openreach's full fibre and G.fast networks. This means that they are not as widely available as the Superfast packages. Sky Ultrafast is currently available to 32% of UK homes, Gigafast is available to around 24%.

Sky Boost (Add-On)

For an extra monthly fee, Sky customers can add Sky Boost to their core package. Sky Boost’s extra benefits include:

  • Guaranteed WiFi in every room
  • Daily checks on your line
  • Flexible engineer visits including evening and weekend appointments
  • An additional 2Gb added to your Sky Mobile account, if you have one

Sky Home Phone

Sky Pay As You Talk is included in all Sky broadband packages as standard. You can upgrade this to one of Sky's call packages if you like. Choose from:

  • Sky Talk Evenings and Weekends Extra
  • Sky Talk Anytime Extra
  • Sky Talk International Extra

Sky is currently in the process of upgrading its phone services to internet calls (VoIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol) instead of a traditional phone line. All home phone providers are upgrading their networks, with internet calls being rolled out across most of the UK by the end of 2025.

When placing an order, Sky will check if internet calls is available in your area, on the package you want and if it’s right for you. As internet calls use your broadband connection to make and receive calls, it might not be the best option for everyone. If your broadband isn’t working because of a fault or outage, or there is a power cut, then your phone won’t work either. This includes calls to emergency services. In this case you will need to make sure you have another way to make calls in an emergency, like a mobile phone. If you don’t have a mobile, or have poor mobile signal, then internet calls isn’t right for you.

What is Sky's Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee?

Sky launched their Wall to Wall WiFi Guarantee in August 2022 for both new and existing customers.

This guarantees fibre and full fibre broadband customers at least 3Mb/s WiFi in every room or they will give you money back for one month’s broadband subscription. There are a few T&C’s to be aware of though, which we discuss in more details in our Wall to Wall Guarantee Guide

What is Sky's WiFi Max Guarantee?

Sky WiFi Max is Sky’s new bolt on for their broadband customers and aims to expand on the standard Wall to Wall WiFi guarantee. For an extra monthly fee you get Sky’s fastest WiFi guarantee:

  • 10Mb/s in every room or one months broadband free if you have Sky Broadband Superfast 35, Superfast or Full Fibre 100
  • 25Mb/s in every room or one months broadband free if you have Sky Broadband Ultrafast, Ultrafast Plus or Gigafast

To help guarantee you reach these speeds in each room, Sky will send you the latest router, the Sky Max Hub, with WiFi 6 technology, along with up to 3 Max Pods (mesh extenders) You also get some extra benefits like evening or weekend engineer visits, and 2GB of data for Sky Mobile customers if your broadband has an outage.

What is Sky's Speed Guarantee?

Sky’s Speed Guarantee promises that if your speed falls below your Guaranteed Minimum Download Speed (that’s the speed given to you when you sign up) for at least three days in a row in a 30-day period, then they'll give you money back. You need to be within your minimum term and can only claim once. This is not available to customers on the Essential package though.

What router do you get with Sky broadband?

The Sky Broadband Hub comes standard with all broadband packages.

It’s dual band WiFi technology means it uses both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands at the same time, making it faster and more reliable than single band. It has 8 antenna providing better WiFi coverage, 4 gigabit ethernet sockets for wired connections and can support up to 64 devices.

Sky Broadband Hub specifications:

  • Dual band WiFi 5
  • 4 x Gigabit Ethernet sockets
  • 8 antennae
  • Internet calls
  • Connect up to 64 devices

Why choose Sky Broadband?

Sky Broadband Shield

Sky Broadband customers can take advantage of Sky Broadband Shield which comes free with all packages. Shield works on all connected devices enabling you to control the kinds of content that can be accessed. Its customisable parental controls, which include age ratings and the ‘Watershed’ feature, give complete control over your family’s online activity.

Customer service

Sky's customer reputation has significantly improved in recent years. In the latest Ofcom Telecoms and Pay TV Complaints Report from Q2 2020, Sky received just 4 complaints per 100,000 customers, well below the industry average of 10.

Sky VIP loyalty programme

Sky VIP is Sky’s free loyalty programme. It gives new and returning customers a range of treats, from free tickets, prize draws and exclusive TV previews. Your VIP level is based on how long you’ve been a Sky customer.

What else does Sky offer?

Sky makes it super easy to bundle services together. Choosing a Sky TV, Broadband & Phone bundle deal can provide excellent value for money.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get Sky Broadband in my area?

Sky is one of the largest broadband providers in the UK covering around 99% of the UK, so it’s almost certain that you will be able to get Sky Broadband. However their fibre coverage is less widespread than standard broadband. Sky Ultrafast is currently only available to customers in Openreach FTTP or G.fast areas, which is around 3.5 million customers.

How do I get the best Sky Broadband deal?

We compare the best and latest Sky Broadband deals all in one place. You can filter by price or speed and easily see which services are included.

The best deal will be one that suits your needs, so don’t be tempted into paying for superfast speeds if you live alone and hardly use the internet. Likewise, if you live in a busy household with gamers and streamers then you will need a broadband speed that can support this.

Once you’ve found the deal for you, simply click the ‘View Deal’ button to start the ordering process.

How much does Sky Broadband cost?

How much you spend depends on the package you choose. Sky Broadband packages start from £25 per month. View all the latest Sky Broadband deals.

How fast is Sky Broadband?

Sky Broadband packages offer a choice of different download speeds. Sky Superfast 35 is their entry level fibre package with average speeds of 36Mb.

Sky have also launched their Ultrafast and Gigafast Full Fibre packages with average speeds of 145Mb and 900Mb, though availability is quite low at the moment.

Does Sky Broadband have WiFi hotspots?

Sky Broadband customers benefit from access to the thousands of Sky WiFi hotspots throughout the UK. These give you free and unlimited internet access on up to six devices. Perfect for those always on the go.

Is Sky Broadband any good?

Sky Broadband might not be the cheapest out there, but they have a strong customer service record, scoring consistently well in Ofcoms Telecoms and Pay TV Complaints Report.

Whilst their speeds are pretty similar to what you can expect from most broadband providers, the extras that come with Sky Broadband combined with the ability to easily bundle your broadband and TV into one package make Sky a great choice.

Is Sky Broadband unlimited?

It sure is! All Sky Broadband packages have truly unlimited downloads - no caps and no traffic management at peak times.

There were some old legacy plans that did have limits, but these have been removed for the foreseeable future because of COVID-19.

If your current provider is Virgin Media then you will need to let them know that you're leaving and it's up to you to coordinate the end of one contract and the start of another.

If you're choosing a broadband package and are currently with another provider that uses the Openreach network, then they will do the contacting on your behalf.
